Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message 'He is Dead'.
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.
Such a beautiful proud name you carried, though how I laughed when I found out your Confirmation name. I miss you, I will always miss you. I loved our long conversations on the telephone, especially when it was early in the morning Australian time, when you would remember what we talked about. Thank you for all the memories I carry, we laughed, we had such fun together, we shared many happy memories, we also broke each other's hearts, though we survived, picked ourselves up, dusted ourselves off and started all over again. We remained good friends throughout, friends till the end. I am sorry you died alone, well of course you had Paddy, your beloved dog. Such a proud, independent man. There were quite a few people who would have liked to share your last months, weeks, hours, with you. For some of us, you were just too far away and for others you were just too proud to shout. I love you Edward William Maher, Eamon, Monto, and I will pray for you, for the holy repose of your soul whether you want me to or not! Until God bestows upon us the grace to meet again Eamon. I'm glad we never ever stopped being comfortable together being able to laugh hysterically at each other or with each other, or to cry like a baby, We never really fell out, more like how a brother and sister should behave. I remember asking you to put my brother up for a while should he wish to visit you, and your response 'You are not pawning him off on me'! I'm sorry I was such a scaredy cat to visit Australia, all them long hours of flying and those horrible spiders and snakes just didn't appeal to me . Rest in Peace Eamon, God willing you will be purifying in Purgatory enroute to Heaven and not where you intended. If you happen to meet Jamie along the way salute him for us. Goodbye Eamon, All my love, always. Kathy
