Dear Dell It was sad to hear of Garry passing away and I send my sympathy to you and to Melanie and Adam and family. I think back on those times from way back when we were young and high on life and remember Garry at school and what a character he had. Always tall and confident with his Who haircut, he was the laugh a minute leader of whoever he was with, and that meant usually sharing a cigarette with. We were so obsessed with smoking back then in High School. Gazza loved his sport and was good at soccer and cricket and was a terror for whoever faced his fast bowling on the cricket pitch. I never worked out how he used to make the ball swerve around so much but it was a great skill and a match winner. I was fielding when he took 6 wickets against Hurlstone Park. After a thunderstorm. Amazing. He was a brain in the classroom too and it was a credit to him how he could get people interested in stuff like Latin derivatives when we would be filling in a crossword puzzle together. Dell after leaving High School you and Garry got together and shared with friends living in that crazy flat down in Ultmo and I thank you and the others involved for the many wonderful wasted hours spent over all those rowdy nights there with much singing and laughter. Amazing how 40 schooners can make it all sound so good really. Though Garry had a good singing voice it was more his Love of Life that could inspire crowds of people to join him singing Al Jolson and Joe Cocker songs. Love of Life an d 40 schooners. Youth might be wasted on young people but you get left with some wonderful memories too. Thank You Garry. and I'll be thinking of you when I hear The Beatles song Hello _Goodbye.

Dear Dell, so many happy memories of our school days 50 years ago! Garry was inspiring. I (Gary) remember very clearly four of us at school as a group: Garry, Garry Wheeler, Curly and myself. Garry will always be in my thoughts. We called Bronwyn Hansen in the US to let her know about Garry's passing and she said she remembers her first day in 1A at Parramatta High School when she and Garry were elected class captains. She thinks it's because they were both the loudest in the class room. We also spoke to Steve Milgate and he also had very fond memories of Garry at school. Garry certainly stood out from the crowd and had an enormous amount of friends. Will will all miss him. All our love to you and the family. Gary & Wendy Kroehnert

I haven't know Garry for long but he was a lovely man and a great supporter of women's golf. I am so sorry to hear of his passing, he has been taken too early. RIP Garry.
