I never met Neil although I feel I knew him through his daughter Kristy & son David. When I look at the people they became I can only imagine what sort of Father he was. I can’t imagine what his past few months were like. David, Taylor, Zac & Jaime Kristy has travelled to be beside him a number of times & I’m so pleased she was able to bear witness to his courage & to be there, with him right to the end. It’s a precious & curious gift to be with a parent when they leave this mortal coil. Thank you for the gifts you gave to your children & grandchildren simply by being you. Rest easy now Neil, you did your best & no one could ask for more.

Neil, you have been An inspiration to so many people, not just family, but to the cadets you spent so many hours with as well.
Our family was very mixed up not always did we share a loving relationship, but we stood by each other when the time ever came for it, You always were interested in the Air Force, first again as a cadet in W.A. I believe Claremont was the place you attended, camps were based at Pearce RAAF Base, You where very close to mum, well before Colin came along, however, you still keep that closeness with her, your schooling was a credit to you, you where the brains of the family, and your achievements reflected that. A wool classer, now something that has just about gone in this day and age, you decided to Join the Airforce I think sometime in 1969,
As an aircraft fitter, again moving through the ranks.
You were on your way to Williams town when you called in to see me at Wagga Wagga, yes I too decided to get back into the forces, mine was not the same reason as yours, We now had three Gambles in the Air Force, The night you stop it was to tell me you were getting married, boy you could have knocked me over with a feather, we went to the leagues club in Wagga, three girls from the base I new help us celebrate your intending marriage, for some reason, we both had driven in, just as well as I finished up unable to stand, yes I was blind, one of the girls was a good friend and was the only one I would ever let drive my car, We were close to being back at the base when suddenly I was not feeling too good, this was when the car was stopped my door was opened and I was kicked out, yes by my very good friend, Brother you saved my life that night, I believed I past out on the side of the road, you were not far behind us somhow you got me into your car and back to the base.
Your marriage to Judy well that was another thing to remember, we were all there plus Judy's father, Val, Ken and myself, I know it was another one of my drunken nights, can't even remember where we stayed in Adelaide, we didn't see a lot of each other during our time in the airforce, we both had little ones when we did get together. we only managed that about two or three times. what I do know is that your love for Judy was very real and strong, Things happen in our lives that we all look back at and ask ourselves what we did and wish things could have been different at times.
As I sit here and write this I look at your photo, And see the Happiness on your face and in your eyes, Something you have not had for a long time, Neil I miss you as with the others gone before you, As your body is entrusted to those that you have left behind your spirit travels to a place god has made for us I wish you well, in your reunion with all those gone before you, you now have time to check out ancestors, I wish you well my brother and god grant you piece in his garden
