So sorry to hear the news of Cousin Alan's passing, and unfortunate we could not attend living in Queensland.
I have just watched the funeral on livestream and it was a lovely service.
He was an older cousin to me but he was extremely close to my mum, who was always Auntie Joan to him.
He spent quite a lot of time with my parents during his younger years, at the time of his marriage to Maree and later when they all settled back in Sydney. He shared a love of plants with my mum and many strolls around the garden were taken together at Penshurst.
My condolences to all the family including Maxine. I know his children were very important to him and he will be dearly missed you all.

Al, I am so sorry you have left us so soon.
Due to the distance we were living in recent years we only spoke regularly over the phone. I treasured those times.
You were a great mate for at least 35 years.
We went through a few sad times together but we had many, many more good times.
You were a mentor of mine during our banking careers to which I regularly shouted you refreshments in appreciation.
My condolences to Maxine, your sons David, Mark, Greg, daughter Cathy and the rest of the extended family.
Rest in peace mate and I hope you will meet me at the Pearly Gates in due course.
I will miss you.
Ian Scarr (Port Macquarie).

Allan, we have many fond memories of our friendship & times our families spent together all those years ago at Delungra & Inverell. This photo was one time we caught up in Wollongong, which was my son Ian's 19th birthday. We were very saddened to hear of your passing & we will be thinking of you and all your family during the tribute & celebration of your life. With love June Lennon & family x

Al, I am forever grateful that you came into my life and there is a deep sadness now you are gone.
I know that it will take some time to pass for us all.
32 years ago, I gained another Dad, a new home and a second family.
It’s true, you did say to always save for a rainy day… you taught me that and much more.
You taught me how to budget, how to plan, how to understand contracts and weigh up my options.
You taught me that Zebra, Double bar and Gouldian are all types of finches, they lived in our yard and they were some of your favourites.
You taught me how to drive manual down Lansdowne St and told me about special places you loved like Capertee Valley and far away Africa.
You introduced me to Neil Diamond and Johnny Cash and a boy named Sue.
You taught me about footy and to shout… Go the Dragons! and did again years later with little Mali up on you knee.
You asked me to 'listen to your mother' and make sure I called to check in.
You reminded me to be patient and to always be kind.
You reminded me that 'we don’t have shares in the County Council’ so to turn off the lights.
Most of all you loved me and I you. My other Dad. Our Alsie.
...I'll see you later...
Love always, Melissa x
