Covid-19 and Funerals
COVID – 19
Having to arrange a funeral for one of our family members is the toughest of times for us all. Compounding these pressures right now is the new rules around social distancing and limitations on how many attendees we can have at a funeral service.
As funeral directors, it breaks our hearts to see and hear the impacts this is having on our client families. We can live stream services and offer digital solutions, but the fact is that we can’t replace the arm around a shoulder or a hug that we need at this time. Having a funeral service is important for us all to celebrate the life of our loved ones.
The caring team at Murphy Family Funerals are coming up with as many ways as possible for families to get together, to share the good times, the sad times, the triumphs and the losses. We need this now more than ever. We need our community to come together, to understand that this is not going to last forever, we will get through this.
With the practical limitations on attendees at funeral services, we can offer recording of services and uploading for families and friends to watch. Extended viewing times and visitation at our funeral home, still limited by floor space but the ability for friends and family to say goodbye in their own time. Holding cremations/burials now then a memorial service at a later date when things return to normal. We have many options available to us and are happy to explore them with your families.
Overall, in these unprecedented times, I would hope that we can be kind to each other, come together as a community to support those that are doing it tough and most importantly love and care for our own families. I know the fear and concern I have heard in the voices of my own children has been difficult to deal with. We will continue to care for our client families and those they lose with the highest levels of care, compassion and professionalism.
